Bio

I am Catherine Suliga. Most people call me Catie. I was raised in Linden, NJ but after middle school I moved to Toms River where I attended Toms River High School East and then after one year of being there I moved to Brick where I went to Brick Township High school.  Moving from town to town two years in a row was difficult, it isn't very easy for me to make friends fast.  I can be shy and it takes a while for me to open up to people.  Life hasn't been very easy but it could have been worse and I got through it all.  I would've never thought I would end up in college but here I am.  I am a freshman at Rider University and I am double majoring in Advertising and Marketing.
Most people know me for loving music.  More specifically, Paramore. Everywhere I go I am known as Catie, the girl who is obsessed with Paramore or "the Paramore girl" and I don't think anyone will ever leave me alone for that.  I have been on Fueled by Ramen and Hey Monday's street teams for about three years now and I love it.  It's so much fun getting to promote bands and getting to meet new people because of it.  Working at a record label in the marketing and advertising field would be my dream job and I hope to be there one day.  Going to concerts is my favorite thing to do.  I love hearing and seeing bands live.  There is something exciting about it.  It makes me feel alive.
I hope this blog gives you u better understanding of who I am. Enjoy.

Speaker Evaluations

All during my time in my speech communication class we have evaluated and reviewed presentations from our peers and other people.  For one of out last projects we had to do one big evaluation of a speaker.  I decided to go to a Hypnotist on December 1st and evaluate him.  His name is Sailesh and he was voted "World's Best Hypnotist" by MTV Europe.  It was such a fun experience.  I had a great time laughing at all of the things he made the hypnotized people do.  He was a great speaker and kept the audience's attention the whole time.

Cover Letter, Resume, and Interview

For class I had to look up a job/internship opening that i would be interested in and could really do.  After looking that up I had to create a cover letter based on what I found as if I were applying for that job.  I submitted my cover letter and resume to my professor and she has arranged us to have mock interviews the next week.  At my interview I don't think I did horrible but I know I could have done better.  I needed more confidence and use my experiences and explain them more so I could stand out more.

Persuasive Speech

In November of 2010 I wrote a persuasive speech for my Intro To Speech Communication class.  I decided it would be a good idea to write that speech on persuading others to practice safe driving rules by not texting while driving, always wearing a seat belt and not driving under the influence.  I used personal experiences and examples in my speech.  To help add a dramatic affect I used this video in my speech: Texting while Driving PSA
